Mind you even the current maps can be wrong occasionally even where the road layout has changed as much as 3 years ago. For example where we live they rebuilt part of the A2 and the exit from it to get to us is now 1/2 a mile sooner. Generally what you have will work well however as you say every now and again you are told you are in a field. Probably for less than you paid for yours you can now buy a unit with free lifetime World Maps and Traffic. Mind you 7 years ago it cost you a lot more than the current models which do more and are a lot cheaper. Your certainly getting your monies worth out of your TT700. We have 55mb download and it can take 30 mins plus. Now on the new Go units the Western European maps are 6+gb and so unless you have pretty fast broadband speeds it will take a long time to download. The older machines worked using Fat and Linux and so the files were limited in size. One of the moans at the moment is the time it takes to download updates now. This is a major step for many and hopefully they will improve this additional facility in due course. However should you have a problem and loose your map or Speed cameras etc you can reinstall them from the account the unit is tied too which you could not do before without having some difficulty.Īlso Tomtom have just updated the software for the newer units and you can now install 3rd Party POI files from your old machines or created elsewhere. As a result you do not have the facility to do a backup of the units which use the My Drive software instead of the old Home software. However the models they have been selling in recent years have different software since they were taken to court by Microsoft. I certainly agree that if you can you should backup your Tomtom before doing anything. I'm running Windows XP on the computer BTW, but that hasn't caused any problems up to now.Īny suggestions as to what to do next gratefully received! The procedure entry point GetTickCount64 could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL 32.dll TomTom MyDrive Connect.exe - Entry Point Not Found I switched the computer off & re-started. I did some other work in another window, periodically checking the TT window, but no movement.įinally, clicked back to the TT window to find it had vanished. Next, it said it would start installing automatically, but it didn't move. OK, did that, clicked on download & after downloading finished clicked on run. It then informed me there was a new version of the TT software to download to my computer & to disconnect my device. I have lifetime updates, included in the original purchase price.Ĭlicked on the icon & plugged in the TT. Used my desktop tonight & found a message from TT to update.
