With the inferno specialization this happens more and more often meaning if you want to impress any groups your in with a horrifying display of chaotic destruction, it might be the route to take.Ī fun class to play and an amazing replacement for the alchemist from torchlight I, I recommend anyone who wants a power trip to give Embermages a try and feel the power for yourselves, I can guarantee you won’t be disappointed. The charge bar for the embermage makes this all the easier when it fills completely you no longer pay any mana to cast your skills meaning that you can start spamming everything in your arsenal turning the battlefield on its head with enough destruction to make the Engineer embarrassed. Not to be outdone by other classes Embermages bring the pain in massive doses staying true to ARPG roots with the mentality that your enemies should fear you, not the other way around. You’ll be harnessing all the elements with this skill tree causing chaos and destruction as only a true master of Ember could with elemental rainstorms, chaotic ‘bizarre’ effects to wand strikes, there is no telling how bad the ‘storm’ will get before a fight is over. The last tree offers you the power of “Storm” which dispite what the name might imply has you opening up massive destructive ‘rainbows’ of elemental power. The next tree available is “Frost” where the ‘inferno’ tree is all about building up your charge and burning foes as fast as possible, frost focuses on freezing your enemies solid in ice and controlling larger groups with teleportation. This specialization aims toward building your ‘charge’ gauge while keeping the heat and elemental damage coming. This time around the first skill tree is “Inferno” as the name implies it is very fire focused. With a calm head even a spell can handle a big group at close quarters in Torchlight IIĪs with the other classes you have three skill tree’s at your disposal all of which empower you to lay waste to your enemies by the truckloads. ![]() In my experience I was able to chain together elemental damage using two wands meaning I could do ice damage in one hand and then burn them to a crisp with the other all the while still having spells to really turn the battlefield into an electric light show of pyrotechnics and destruction. ![]() Wands are only one handed means they can be paired with any of torchlight II’s single handed weapons like pistols and swords, or in my case another wand! While other classes benefit from finding a weapon combination that works I found that with a ranged class such as the embermage and the outlander there is more chances to really find what feels right to you. With a wand in one hand and a sword in the other I was able to pull enemies with magic and then dynamically swing with my offhand sword when they got to close, or close enough for a good hard slamming with my magic hammer of fiery death kupo!Įmbermage’s have two main weapons: wands, that deal ranged magic damage and turn into a club at melee range, and Staff’s which enhance your spells but don’t do ranged attacks. Having a melee spell spoke volumes to the possibilities so I experimented. The Embermage is pretty standard as far as spell-casters go in an ARPG, that is until I saw the above pictured skill “Flame Hammer” which summoned a big hammer out of fire that swung sending my enemies flying. Harnessing the power of Ember through careful study these scientists have found a way to replicate the mystical energies of Ember without any of the harmful ‘Ember blight’. Summoning a hammer made of pure fire when things start to get hot (ok even I winced at that one kupo!)įor part three of my Preview coverage of Torchlight II, we’ll be taking a look at the powerful “Embermage”. It’s worth noting is to version upgrade a perpetual license of C4D from R23 or later to R25 is 29% of a new perpetual license, which is greater than a year of just subscribing. (The US perpetual license for C4D is $3495.) The US price lists were similar in proportion but lifted in amounts for dollars. I feel fairly certain that Maxon didn’t buy Zbrush to continue to hand out free updates and watching how they monetized C4D loyalty, I can only cringe imagining how they will handle for the price list table. My only hope is that we can keep the current rev of Zbursh, at least for a little longer before Maxon sweeps in. If this was truly good news for the community, they would be hitting the news from the highest rooftops. The “we’re all sworn to silence” approach to acquisition leaves me cold. Having worked with Maxon before, I’d be wary to get caught in another investment treadmill. I’m predominately a hobbyist these days, but Zbrush was a truly unique product and I’ll be sad to see it go the way of all other small unique products–that is to be buried in some all-encompasing, expensive suite where it will slowly languish.Ĭan’t honestly see the upside for Zbrush license holders. (Not that I didn’t like C4D, but the cost and support issues left me behind.) I’ve used Zbrush since 1.5b, but I can see the writing on the wall once Maxon gets their hands on it. I was a long-time user of C4D but constant price hikes on perpetual licenses and the move to force more subscriptions put me off and let my licenses lapse in favor of other solutions. ( Link) I might have to consider using Blender for sculpting again. After hearing the news of the acquisition of zbrush, Blender developers said they would accelerate the development of the sculpting feature. They acquired Forger, a sculpting app for tablets, discontinued updates by classifying their existing perpetual licenses as ‘Forger Classic’, and announced a new Forger, available only with a new monthly payment license. I’ve used Maxon’s cinema 4d to create motion graphics a few times, and I’m quite impressed with its capabilities, but I don’t like their pricing and acquisition history. The Zbrush I wanted was not something I had to pay for monthly. But I am very sad to hear this news today. It was a hefty expense, but nonetheless all users appreciated Pixologic’s upgrade policy, so I didn’t worry and believed it. Then, at the last summit discount, I was finally able to purchase a perpetual license for Zbrush. Blender has a pretty good sculpting feature and can do most of the work, but it lacks some features compared to Zbrush and has a lower maximum polygon count to work with. ![]() However, when I started working personally, I had been sculpting using Blender, an open source free program due to a tight budget. It was an amazing experience, and digitally transferred the sculpting of the real world. Leo Watson is the voice of "Prince Chawmin'". The main character, So White, is voiced by Vivian Dandridge, sister of actress Dorothy Dandridge. The Clampett unit made a couple of field trips to Club Alabam, a black club in the Los Angeles area, to gain a feel for the music and the dancing, and Clampett cast popular radio actors as the voices of his three main characters. In fact, the idea to produce Coal Black came to Clampett after he saw Duke Ellington's 1941 musical revue Jump for Joy, and Ellington and the cast suggested Clampett make a black musical cartoon. Ĭlampett intended Coal Black as both a parody of Snow White and a dedication to the all-black jazz musical films popular in the early 1940s (like Cabin in the Sky and Stormy Weather). The film was intended to have been named So White and de Sebben Dwarfs, which producer Leon Schlesinger thought was too close to the original film's actual title, and had changed to Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarfs. Several scenes unique to Disney's film version of Snow White, such as the wishing-well sequence, the forest full of staring eyes, and the awakening kiss, are directly parodied in this film. The story is set during World War II in the United States, and the original tale's fairy tale wholesomeness is replaced in this film by a hot jazz mentality and sexual overtones. In this version of the story, all of the characters are black, and speak all of their dialogue in rhyme. As a result, Coal Black and similar cartoons have been removed from circulation and are little known today among mainstream audiences. The character designs for "So White" and her seven friends are examples of the 'darky' iconography typical of Hollywood animation during the first half of the 20th century. The cartoon has been rarely seen on television, and has never been officially released on home video. As such, it is one of the most controversial cartoons in the classic Warner Brothers library, being one of the Censored Eleven. The stylistic portrayal of the characters is an example of "darky" iconography, which was widely accepted in American society at the time. The film is an all- black parody of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale Snow White, known to its audience from the popular 1937 Walt Disney animated feature Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. ![]() The short was released on January 16, 1943.
